My Logo Portfolio

Logos are different to either leaflets or magazines in that there is less of everything, but everything that is there has to make a bigger impact to be memorable. The text included is just the company name and only one image should be used to represent that company. Also in a logo the text becomes part of the image it’s self making the logo a whole rather than separate elements.

Kitchen Logo

Kitchens Today Logo

This is a personal project I set to create a logo for an imaginary kitchen design and fitting company. I wanted to use different kitchen materials (the wood and steel) for the background to show that the company caters for all kitchen tastes, but also to add texture and contrast to the logo. These two materials create a great balance in the logo in the form of colour, direction of the grain and the feel that each material creates. Then I created the kettle and steam as a symbol of something that everyone does in a kitchen and something that makes a kitchen feel like home, which is what the company wants to achieve with every kitchen it creates. The left image is the logo and the right image is an example of how the logo could be used.

Mirror Logo

Mirror Logo

This is a personal project I set to create a logo for an imaginary mirror and glass company. Obviously the Mirror text is mirrored back on its self over and over representing a mirror. The blacks, greys and white's give the logo a modern feel and represent the colours of glass and the silvering on a mirror. The white glow in the centre represents reflected light shining from a mirror or glass. As well as this it also focus’s people’s attention on the central Mirror text and makes the other mirror texts fade to the background. The left image is the logo and the right image is an example of how the logo could be used.

Visit Yorkshire Logo

Visit Yorkshire Logo

This is a logo I designed for a project I set myself, to advertise tourism in Yorkshire. So the logo had to be a symbol of Yorkshire that would be easily recognizable and memorable, but at the same time interesting and unusual. I started with the idea of joining the two words by their first letters because they are so similar. Then I worked out from there adding the Yorkshire Rose as the best symbol to use. Then I adding the stripe down the left side to highlight the Yorkshire text and make it stand out more than the visit text. I finally partly hid the Yorkshire Rose behind the stripe to add interest to a symbol that is used a lot in its full form. The left image is the logo and the right image is an example of how the logo could be used.
