My Leaflet & Poster Portfolio

For leaflets and posters the information included has to be selected carefully because you don’t want too much text cluttering them up. They have to be short and punchy getting the vital information across as quickly as possible. The images included have to catch people’s eyes to make them interested and want to read the text. Then the images and text have to work well together to balance the page out.

Egyptian Leaflet Front

Visit Egypt Leaflet / Poster

This was a personal project to create an advert for Egyptian holidays. Using Illustrator, I created something that could be either a poster or a leaflet and so increasing its range of usability. I wanted to create something that was appropriate to the theme, but simple, I didn’t want to go over the top on the Egyptian theme and have lots of hieroglyphs and Egyptian symbols. So for the front (Left) I created a single illustration of an Egyptian god in the Egyptian style because it is easily recognized as an Egyptian image. I then used this image large in the layout to catch people’s attention. Then on the back (Right) I created an Egyptian Scarab beetle to frame the text. Apart from rearranging the text from both sides, the front of this leaflet could also be used as a poster.

Gardener Leaflet Front

Gardeners Are Us Leaflet / Poster

This was a personal project that I set for myself to create something that could be used either as a leaflet or a poster to advertise a gardening company and the services it offered. I wanted something that was simple and uncluttered, but appealing and appropriate to the theme. So using Illustrator I created two flowers and then blended them together. I did this for both the front (Left) and the back (Right) of the leaflet and just switched the places of the two flowers and the colour schemes of each flower to link both sides or the leaflet together and still be something different and interesting on both sides. Apart from rearranging the text from both sides, either the front or back of this leaflet could also be used as a poster.

Caravan Leaflet Front

Sands Caravan Leaflet / Poster

This was a project for a relative to advertise his caravan in Skegness. The brief was simple make something appropriate to the theme and include all the important information as well as the two images that were provided; the symbol and the coast illustration. On the front (Left) both of the images stand out clearly and act as a frame for the text. On the back (Right) the images are more subtle and act as a background to the text. I created two very different sides for the leaflet so that when the viewer turns it over it doesn’t become boring and his interest is renewed. Apart from rearranging the text from both sides, either the front or back of this leaflet could also be used as a poster.

Easter Fair Leaflet Front

Easter Fair Leaflet / Poster

This was a personal project that I set for myself to advertise an Easter Fair. I wanted something that would be bright and breezy and appeal to adults as well as children. Illustrator can be used to create many things, cartoon characters included and I wanted to show how characters like these can be very effective in a design. I also wanted to create characters in an original style, that didn’t look like the run of the mill clipart. The front (Left) and the back (Right) of this leaflet are nearly the same. For the back I just re-arranged the text and images and included a map. Apart from rearranging the text from both sides, either the front or back of this leaflet could also be used as a poster.
