MANDALA
For this project I had to create my own ideas and themes, but the basic principal was that the project had to be about the meaning and ideas behind each piece as well as the visual aspect. I chose to explore the background of Mandala's for this purpose.
Mandala is Sanskrit for the whole world or healing circle. It is a representation of the universe and everything in it. Khyil-khor is the Tibetan word for Mandala and means "centre of the Universe in which a fully awakened being abides." In Tibet, the process of creating a Mandala is as important as the finished product, as it is here. Each shape and colour has a different meaning and put together can inspire the viewer in many ways.
